Freshman Success Period


"Freshmen Success Period" or FSP is similar to a study hall but much more. Throughout the year, counselors, social workers, school resource officers, college connection coaches, and administrators will present to freshmen on a variety of topics. Some of these topics could include:

  • Study skills
  • Learning styles
  • CHS info-getting involved
  • College and career skills
  • Getting out college go week info
  • Doing 4 year planning
  • Bullying
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Setting goals
  • High school testing—What tests will I take?
  • Keeping a high school resume: preparing for college applications and scholarships
  • What do to with my summer? (credit recovery, summer job, volunteering, summer camps)
  • Handling pressure
  • Time management
  • Social Workers Teen Series (Being a teenager, substance Use and Abuse, Dating, Family and Friend Relationships, coping skills/depression/anxiety/QPR)
